Wow this is my first blog post! So since this is my first post I guess I should tell you about my running story. And maybe if I figure it out I can put it under the tab running story. Like everybody else does!
Oh and if you are reading this I guess you should know that this a running blog. I am going to attempt to document my running journey.
First let me say that I am not a natural runner! I never did track or cross country! I guess you could say that I was fairly athletic in high school. I played varsity volleyball and softball. Volleyball was my true love. In college I started to run to get in some sort of exercise. Nothing consistent. Then I moved to Indianapolis to start medical school. In Indianapolis they have the largest half marathon in the world-45,000 people run it! So I signed up. I did some training and ran it with my sister. I think our time was around 2:03. I had a great time but the next day I took a pregnancy test and I was pregnant!! Yea!! Well I then finished medical school, pediatric residency, had 2 more kids and running sort of took a back seat. I did do 2 half marathons in there with minimal training. After my third and last? baby was born I decided to start running again. I trained for the Indianapolis mini marathon again. I ran it in 1:57 and felt great! I thought maybe I could do a marathon?
So that is what I did! I started training for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. Every time my long run increased I fell in love with running even more! So how did the marathon go? Well I finished:) I will post my entire thoughts on the marathon in another post. But I will say the first thing I said when I crossed the finish line was "I can't wait to do another one!" Now I am training for my second marathon- The Chicago Marathon in October:) Here we go...
